Here's to a new start!

As I sit here, sipping my morning coffee and watching the sun slowly rise, I can’t help but reflect on last year’s homeschool adventure. To be honest, it was a bit like a circus—especially with a wild 2-year-old in the mix! There were days when it felt like I was juggling more than I could handle, with my toddler's whirlwind energy swirling around us. But through it all, I was reminded that God's mercies are new each morning, and for that, I am so incredibly grateful.

This year, I’m entering our homeschool season with a fresh perspective and a heart full of excitement. Yes, there will still be moments of chaos—because let’s be real, homeschooling four girls from ages 2 to almost 13 is no small feat—but I’m armed with plenty of toddler-friendly activities to keep my littlest one entertained and engaged.

One of the biggest lessons I learned from last year is the importance of flexibility and grace, both for myself and my girls. Homeschooling isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s about nurturing a love for learning in our children, even when things don’t go exactly as planned. And let’s face it, with a toddler running around, things often don’t go as planned!

This year, I’m embracing the beautiful chaos that comes with homeschooling a range of ages. I’ve prepared a basket full of activities specifically for my toddler—things like sensory bins, simple puzzles, and her favorite books. I’ve also set up a little “school” corner just for her, so she can feel like she’s part of the action while her older sisters work on their lessons.

For my older girls, we’re diving into some new and exciting subjects, and I’m so looking forward to seeing their eyes light up with curiosity and discovery. But I’m also reminding myself to slow down and savor the moments, to find joy in the little things, like a shared laugh over a science experiment gone wrong or the warmth of snuggling up with a good book during our read-aloud time.

Homeschooling is a journey, and each year brings its own unique challenges and blessings. As we embark on this new school year, I’m holding onto the promise that His mercies are new each day. We may not have it all figured out, but we’re doing this together, one day at a time, with God’s grace guiding us every step of the way.

So here’s to a new homeschool year, filled with laughter, learning, and a whole lot of love. Let’s embrace the mess, the noise, and the beautiful, wild journey that is homeschooling. After all, it’s these moments—both the planned and the unexpected—that make this journey so incredibly worthwhile.

Wishing you all a blessed and joyful start to your homeschool year!

Love, Lisa
